What must we do before we make our final decision to get married at St Michael’s?

Before any decision can be made as to whether your wedding can be celebrated in St Michael’s, you - the couple – must have an interview with the Chaplain (see contacts). If he agrees you will be expected to attend at least two more interviews with him. On the second interview you will be expected to pay the deposit of 50 euros (see Cost.)

 

Can we leave the booking of St. Michael’s and the priest to our Wedding Organiser?

No. You must be in personal contact with our Chaplain (see Contacts)

 

Can we bring our own priest to St Michael’s to marry us?

In principle that is possible, but you must consult with our Chaplain, Canon Roger Greenacre, on that point.

What happens once it has been agreed that our wedding can take place at St Michael’s?

A date has to be fixed. You can get married at St Michael’s any day of the week if the church is available. We do not celebrate weddings at St Michael’s in Lent.

What happens once it has been agreed and a date and time have been fixed?

You are encouraged to attend a Sunday morning Eucharist (10 am) as soon as possible and to meet with the organist (see Contacts) in order to discuss music.

If we are using the services of a Wedding Organiser – can we leave it all to them?

Even if you are using a Wedding Organiser for the rest of your day, arrangements for the words and music of the service itself must be made directly with the priest and organist. You must also contact the verger/caretaker.

What does the Verger/Caretaker do?

He will be the one to open the church, get all the seating ready for you, organise the delivery of extra chairs if needed (he will need to know well in advance the number of guests you will be expecting so he can order extra seating if needed). He also lets the florist and wedding organiser into the church, sets ready any recordings to be played etc, etc

Must we have a printed ‘Order of Service’?

Though not strictly essential, we do recommend it. Please note that St Michael’s cannot print anything for you.

Where can we find the words to the ‘Order of Service’’?

This can be found at www.cofe.anglican.org/commonworship  However; the wording of the service (which allows for many alternatives) must be confirmed in consultation with Chaplain.
